Newborn Guide
Welcome
Thank you for trusting me to capture your newborn’s earliest days. My approach is centered on creating timeless, authentic, and heartfelt portraits that reflect your family as you truly are.
I follow a baby-led approach to posing, allowing each session to unfold naturally based on your newborn’s needs and rhythms. This results in organic, gently guided images using soft, neutral tones and familiar, comforting poses.
My goal is to preserve the quiet beauty of this season and the connection you share—so you can hold onto these moments for years to come.

What to Expect
I schedule newborn photos in the first three weeks after the birth, when babies are still sleepy and curly. I schedule newborn photos on weekdays in my San Jose studio. You are welcome to request additional times if you don’t see them on the calendar.
If you are pregnant, we will pencil in a date as a placeholder in my calendar. We will confirm after the birth if this date is still a good time, or adjust the date as needed.
Your session with me will be relaxed and easygoing! My goal is to help you feel comfortable and to enjoy a wonderful time with family.
Styling & wardrobe is a foundational element in creating beautiful photos. I will share a Style Guide with tips on what to wear and my favorite stores for buying clothing. I also have dresses and some children’s clothing available to borrow. In general, I just recommend light, neutral, solid clothing. I advise to avoid patterns or dark colors.

Why choose Iris & Lace?
As a fellow mama, I completely understand the beauties (and unique challenges!) of the newborn stage. That’s why I feel it’s so important to invest in an experienced newborn photographer, who has been in your parenting shoes and photographed literally hundreds of other newborns in the Bay Area!
I have over 90 Five Star reviews on Google and hundreds of happy clients.
My in-home studio is located conveniently in the middle of San Jose. By coming to my studio, you don’t have to worry about cleaning your home, the lighting in your house, or figuring out wardrobe. I can fully style mamas and babies. I have preselected the fabrics and knits that photograph well, and have invested in beautiful designer dresses for mama to wear and feel beautiful.
I recommend choosing me if you are drawn to a modern, organic, lifestyle approach to newborn photography. My galleries don’t have cutesy setups or complicated props in my photoshoots. My styling gravitates towards soft neutral whites and lace or knit fabrics.
I keep my galleries clean and light, so the photos will stand the test of time.
